The Genova Global Goals Award 2024 – Blue Edition, now in its third edition, was held on November 14 in the Sala Cuspide of the Blue District in Genoa. The event rewards schools and businesses for projects inspired by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN 2030 Agenda, with a focus on issues such as energy saving, urban regeneration, environmental protection and the creation of circular economies
The initiative, conceived by the Municipal Administration in collaboration with the Genova Smart City Association, was created to promote sustainability in Genoa, aligning itself with the Genova 2031 Strategic Marketing Plan and the Genova Lighthouse and Genova 2050 Action Plan programmatic documents. Its aim is to involve schools, businesses and local institutions, rewarding their commitment to projects and ideas that promote awareness on fundamental issues such as energy saving, urban regeneration, environmental protection and biodiversity, as well as recycling initiatives aimed at creating circular economies.
The competition involved two categories: GenZ (schools) and Senior (businesses and other entities), with projects already completed (Reality) or to be completed (Dream).
Among the winners:
Reality Category:
– ReChiclo with an educational garden project.
– Istituto Nautico San Giorgio with the redevelopment of urban gardens.
Dream Category:
– Gaudio1930 with the redevelopment of flowerbeds at a library.
– Deledda International School with the restoration of vandalized walls.
The jury, chaired by Maurizio Caviglia (Chamber of Commerce), also awarded special mentions to innovative projects by companies such as Axpo and Costa Edutainment. The winners received sustainable prizes and will be able to carry out interventions to protect the city’s natural heritage.
The event, supported by sponsors such as Axpo and Vernazza Autogru, confirms the importance of raising awareness and involving new generations and the business community to build a sustainable future.
